Dr Myrsini Kakagianni

Dr. Myrsini Kakagianni received her B.Sc. in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology (School of Biology, Faculty of Science) and M.Sc. in Food Science and Technology (Department of Food Science and Technology, School of Agriculture) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2008 and 2010, respectively. She was awarded her PhD working in the Laboratory of Food Microbiology and Hygiene (Department of Food Science and Technology, School of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment), AUTH, in July 2018. The title of her PhD was: Development and application of predictive models for the growth of thermophilic spore - forming bacteria in foods. Since 2010, Myrsini has worked on 2 EU-funded (Q-SAFE, ProSafeBeef - FP6, EUPA) and 4 national funded projects (ProbioDairyMeat, THALIS, MOIKOM – ERDF and OPCEII, NSRF 2007-2013). She has 6 publications in peer reviewed journals and 25 publications in proceedings of national and international conferences. Myrsini was awarded a fellowship from Greek Scholarships Foundation (IKY) for the 3rd order success in School of Biology of Faculty of Science (2003), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As a PhD student, she participated after proposal submission and selection, with the MAH group (Microbiology And Hygiene Group) (Aspridou Zafeiro, Kakagianni Myrsini, Dimakopoulou-Papazoglou Dafni) in the 6th campaign "Spin your Thesis! - 2015"of the European Space Agency (07-18/09/15), held at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk (Netherlands) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Konstantinos Koutsoumanis entitled “Effect of hypergravity on microbial heat resistance” and received the Award of Excellence from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since February 2019, she is a member of the Plant and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory (Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly) working on the project the National Emblematic Action "ROADS OF OLIVE" funded by the Hellenic Ministry of Education.
