She obtained a first degree in Biology, an MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Biology Department of the University of Crete. She performed her post-doctoral research in the Genetics Department at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. Her main research interest include: i) molecular diagnosis of cancer and study of the molecular pathogenesis of cancer, aiming to the development of personalized therapies (pharmacogenetics-pharmacogenomics), ii) molecular mechanisms of anticancer potential of plant-derived compounds, especially plant secondary metabolites, iii) toxicity studies of drug and their metabolites using human hepatic cells. She is the author of 15 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 2 chapters in books.
