Daniela studied Agriculture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and she has an MSc in Plant Biotechnology and a PhD in molecular plant-microbe interactions from the Agricultural University of Athens. She did her first post-doc at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (6 months) and a second post-doc at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in the University of Thessaly (4 years & 6 months) focusing on legume-rhizobium symbiosis. She continued working on the legume-rhizobium interaction by joining the group of Prof. Jens Stougaard in Aarhus University (Denmark) for two years, and focusing on the role of miRNAs in nodulation. Then, she was awarded a fellowship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation to study multiple microbial interactions (rhizobia and mycorrhizal fungi) in legume roots. She has published 18 articles in peer-reviewed journals and she has 24 publications in proceedings of national and international conferences.
