Costas is a graduate of this department. He completed his DPhil in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Oxford, where he studied how subcellular localization may affect functions of the glycolytic enzyme aldolase in Arabidopsis. Currently, he is working as part of the European Research TRIFORC program, the primary goals of which are the identification of novel bioactive terpenes, as well as the isolation, characterization and cloning of genes that are involved in synthesis of these molecules. His broader research interest is how plant metabolism is regulated in the context of concurrent cellular and physiological processes.
