Dimitra holds a BSc degree in Crop Science from the Agricultural University of Athens, with a specialisation in Plant Pathology. She then pursued an MSc in Crop Improvement followed by a PhD in Crop Science, both at the University of Nottingham. Her postgraduate studies allowed her to delve deeper into the research areas of Plant Physiology and Pathology, as she investigated the involvement and protective role of the photosynthetic machinery against plant fungal diseases. Dimitra currently holds a Postdoctoral position at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly, under the supervision of Prof. Papadopoulou and employed under the European PRIMA project “INTOMED”. INTOMED aims to uncover innovative molecular and microbiological tools that have the potential to combat plants pests and pathogens of important crops across the Mediterranean. Dimitra has also developed a keen interest and participated in outreach activities and public engagement, involving science dissemination and communication.
